Atari 1040STe

This was my all-time favorite, the Atari 1040STe.

The Atari 1040STe was my first and favorite computer. To this day, I have fondness for the sheer usability and ease of this machine. Yes, computers got faster and prettier, but this computer was perfect for the tasks at hand. My setup was a 1040STe, with the maximum of 4 megs of ram, aa SM1224 high resolution monochrome monitor, a Megafile 30 meg hard drive from which I booted the system and a Panasonic dot matrix printer.

My system was part of a midi studio that, at one point, had 32 synthesizers. I had everything from Prophet 5 to Proteus to LinnDrum ... it was a feast of electronic music! I have sequenced over 300 songs using Cubase software, many of which can still be listened to at velvetelvis.net.

Most of the synths and the original 1040STe are long gone. The computer went to my ex-wife, but I intend to re-aquire another Atari soon. I will definitely post pics as soon as I get it!
