I have several miscelaeous motherboards, partial systems, boards, processors, and peripherals. Some are the remnants
of computers past, and some are recent additions.
I started my computing journey on an Atari 1040STe in 1992. And, even though the next step up might have been
a Mac, as that is what I used at work, I went the IBM way due to cost. My first was an IBM 486 in an AT case
which was given to me in 1995. I have been building computers by upgrading that 486 ever since. I think most of the
original components are gone by now, but the linneage is still clear. In 1999 I replaced the original board with
a Pentium board and a 300 MHz PII processor. That machine became Red Hare1 and,
although I an entirely new line or RedHare machines, the original has continued to be upgraded to this day.
Today, I have an AMD and 5 Intel machines with over a terabyte of storage that handle all of my PC needs. My Macs
are simply for testing and the early Apples for fun. Red Hare1 is my main test
computer, hosting every Microsoft operating system since Dos 5.0. Red Hare2
is now my Dell laptop, Red Hare3 is my main working AMD machine, Red Hare4
is a testing network server in the garage and Red Hare5 is my Linux computer, also
in the garage.
